There are many different theories on Magic. The most commonly accepted theory is the Theory of Proto's Weave. It is said that the world has many fields that lay invisible to our senses. Professor Proto explained this with gravity. Just like gravity magic is a natural phenomenon by which all physical bodies manipulate their surroundings. Some people are more attuned with the magical fields just like some people have better balance. These people tend to become sorcerers or natural mages such as druids.

Wizards on the other hand understand that certain items and words are more attuned with threads of the weave and use them to grab the threads of the weave and manifest magic. For more difficult spells such as rituals specific items are needed in order to attune themselves to specific threads of the weave.

Druids have watched animals and trees for centuries and have subconsciously learned how they interact with the weave and have learned to imitate it through primal displays.

Sorcerers subconsciously cast using themselves as an anchor for the weave. Wizards believe that with study they could become the most powerful casters.

Some pact casters such as warlocks access the weave by using someone or something else as an anchor. They find it easier to connect to a powerful creatures such as a fey or demon.

Divine magic is not researched publicly, the few studies that have been conducted have found something similar to the weave. Researching divine magic often brings the wrath of the church.
