Letters to Pol[edit | edit source]

Dated XX[edit | edit source]

Dearest Pol,

I hope this letter finds you well. I pray that you received my last letter and the one before that. I am currently headed towards the town of Rawg. I have heard from other travelers that the Kobolds in the region have been particularly active. I would like to see firsthand what has driven them into such a state. Anyways, I am currently at a small tavern along the way. It is dark and smoky, which, as you know, is just the kind of place that I have grown quite fond in recent years. I can't help but recalling to mind the time when we were in the Academy in a tavern in the rougher part of Fyr. I am sorry that if this memory is not a fond one for you, but the look of pure rage on your face when you smashed your mug against the side of that miscreant after I hypnotized him into slapping your bottom was absolutely terrific. I don't think I have ever seen you so furious. And the ruckus afterwards! I can't believe that we had to put the whole bar to sleep after that fiasco. How was I supposed to know that the man was there with his wife? Let alone, know that he was the barkeep's brother. At least we got out of that one relatively unscathed. I do wonder what ever happened when those fools woke up. But I digress. I hope that your teaching in the Academy is being spent enjoyably. I am sure that your charges are progressing magnificently in their studies under your tutelage. I know that it is difficult to reply, considering the whimsical nature of my travels, but if you have the time write back, send a message to Rawg. I may be there for some time if this mystery with the Kobolds can't be solved soon. Take care, friend.

Yours Truly,

Thaddeus VerWinkle

Hello friend,

In case you did not receive my last letter (you never really can trust these postmen outside of Fyr), I was on my way to Rawg to investigate the Kobolds in the area. I let myself be captured by them and I learned a few interesting things, but my time with them was miserably spent. I did, however, manage to befriend a strange Kobold in my time in captivity. He seems to suffer from a strange affliction of the mind. Perhaps this is why he is shunned by his tribe members. He will remain an interesting subject to study. Now you may be asking how I freed myself from the Kobolds, which is another fascinating tale of its own. As I was about to free myself, a paladin, of Palor nonetheless, freed me with the help of a strange hooded figure. I know find myself in the company of these two and the afflicted Kobold on the way to Liberty delivering a letter. We are a strange group of companions. I know little of the paladin and what has led him to follow this strange god and the hooded figure must be wretchedly disfigured the way he hides his face. The Kobold also dreams of greatness, which is strange coming from so humble a race, but is interesting. I hope to be rid of them soon and continue on my journey. Anyway, I have never been to Liberty, but I have heard of their greatness, being one of the last few cities left not afflicted by the declining birth rate. I will see what strange secrets this land holds, but for now, I must leave in haste, as our party continues our journey at sunrise. As always, take care and I miss you greatly.

Your friend,

Thaddeus VerWinkle

Note left at the Academy in Fyr[edit | edit source]

Pol--

I received your letter. I too worry about the Weave. There are many strange occurrences going on in the world for which I have failed to find any explanation. I will be returning to Fyr when I can, but I will be looking for you in Dust. If you somehow manage to return, look for me in Dust. Ask around for a Kobold who causes trouble. I will be sure to be nearby.
